Teñido de telas en Batik :: Batiking

He tratado la técnica del batik antes sobre seda y realmente me gustó. El sábado pasado , unas damas creativas y yo nos reunimos durante seis horas para refrescar nuestros conocimientos sobre batik de Indonesia . La talentosa Liza Wajong quien es nacida en Indnesia coordinó todo.

I have tried batik before on silk and I really liked it. Last Saturday, few creative ladies and I got together for six hours to refresh our knowledge about Indonesian Batik. The talented Indonesian born Liza Wajong coordinated everything.

Esta vez, decidimos usar la tela de algodón. Además de la pieza de tela , hay algunos otros materiales que se necesitan para hacer un proyecto de este tipo la cera (s una combinación de seis partes de cera y cuatro partes de parafina) , quemador , tjanting , tintes naturales , plancha y tabla de planchar, y el papel absorbente .

This time, we decided to use cotton fabric instead. Additionally to the piece of fabric, there are some materials need it to make a project such us wax (we used a combination of six pars of was and four parts of paraffin), burner, tjanting, natural dyes, iron, and iron board, and absorbent paper.

El Batik es una técnica  de resistencia. La cera se aplica para conservar el color y protegerlo contra el siguiente color, después de trazar el patrón con un lápiz y una vez que se calienta la cera se puede aplicar en el diseño con el tjanting.

Batik is a resist technique. The wax is apply to preserve the colour and protect it against the next colour, after tracing the pattern with pencil and once the wax is heated it can be apply on the design with the tjanting.

Hubo algunos derrames y goteos cuando yo estaba trabajando en mi proyecto, pero no me disgustaron . Decidi hacer algunos ajustes de repente mejorar mi diseño .

There were some spills and drips when I was working on my project, but I did not get upset. I just made some adjustments in my suddenly improved design.

 Entonces llegó la parte más emocionante. El material con la primera aplicacion  de la cera se sumerge en el baño frío  con la tintura de indigo. Después de unos minutos , rápidamente metimos la tela en el jugo de limón y el material se saco del liquido para ponerlo a secar.

Then it came the most exciting part. We immersed the material with some wax in the indigo cold dye bath. After few minutes, we quickly dipped the fabric in the limejuice and hanged the material to dry.

Tan pronto como la tela está completamente seca , aplicamos la segunda ronda de la cera y se repitió el ciclo de tinte y secado.

As soon as the fabric is completely dry, we applied the second round of wax and the dye cycle was repeated.

Por último para quitar la cera, sumergimos la tela en agua hirviendo ,  la cera fundida se  desnata de la parte superior y se vuelva a secar.

El resto de la cera sobre el tejido se puede eliminar mediante la colocación de la tela entre las capas de papel absorbente y la fusión de la cera durante el planchado.

Finally, to remove the wax we immersed the fabric in boiling water, skimmed the molten wax off the top and hanged to dry.

The rest of the wax on the fabric can be remove it by placing the fabric in between layers of absorbent paper and melting the wax while ironing.

La próxima vez , me gustaría teñir la tela por lo menos tres veces en diferentes colores o quizás más de tres. Supongo que una chica  se puede dejarse llevar por la emoción cuando trabaja en proyectos creativos .

Next time, I’d like to dye the fabric at least three times in different colours or maybe more than three. I guess a girl can get carried away when working on creative projects.
